Parts of the body with tender points

People have tender points which are founded in the back of their body. These tender points are founded in different places: where the head and neck meet along the spine in the neck, a little less than halfway from the shoulder to the neck on the upper line of the shoulder, a little less than halfway toward the spine on the back fairly close to the dimples above the buttocks, very close to the outside edge of the thigh about three fingers widths below the buttocks

Also these tender points can be found on the front of the body in different places: on the neck just above inner edge of the collarbone, a little further out from the last points about four fingers widths down on the neck, and about three fingers widths below the elbow crease on the inner side of the lower arm, in the fat pad on the inner side of the knee.

With adequate medical treatment and self-care the count of tender point may decrease, but that doesn't mean that the FMS has been cured. In this case body have learned to deal with the perpetuating factors and co-existing conditions and have them under control.

It is believed that FMS becomes with an initiating event that activates biochemical changes which are causing many symptoms like unremitting grief of six months or longer can trigger FMS. The initiating events for FMS are cumulative trauma, protracted labor in pregnancy, open-heart surgery and also inguinal hernia repair. It is probably that multiple causes can cause the begining of each case of FMS. There are cases of FMS that have a known triggering event that begins the first obvious flare. The current symptoms become more intense during a flare and often may appear new symptoms.

The result of many neurotransmitter cascades seems to be fibromyalgia. Like a waterfall that begins at the top and bounces off the rocks and ridges on the way down, wearing down rock, moving gravel and changing the river as it goes is a neurotransmitter cascade. Throughout the body can appear changes caused by the neurotransmitter cascade, and that changes can start cascades of their own. The changes chronic are made by a combination of peripheral and central factors and the result is fibromyalgia.
